I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. I was educated
in Japan through High School. I received my Bachelor Science degree
in Mathematics and Master's degree in Statistics at California State University.
I worked as a systems analyst for a bank and EDS Corporation. Since
my retirement in December, 1998, I have studied Visual Basic programming and
touched a little upon Adobe graphic design. But I have always been
interested in Pottery and have always admired the display works of ceramic
artists. Now for the past 2 years, I have been studying ceramics and
have attempted to create some bowls, vases and sculpture including Raku firing.
My style is influenced in Japanese culture as well as in American culture.
My view on Japanese culture is unique in that I have observed it both ways,
living and feeling it in Japan and looking and analyzing Japan from abroad.
Same can be said about American culture. The America I knew living
in Japan is quite different than seeing and experiencing through living within.
My motto is to be involved, keeping my retired life busy doing something
creative in a positive way.
I became a member of California Japanese Ceramic Arts Guild member by recommendation of Mrs. Rose Nishio and Mr. Junzo Mohri. Since becoming a member, I have been busy participating in various events and exhibitions:
